 Welcome to Rose Bay Public School’s web site. Whether you are already a member of the school community, a potential friend, or browsing out of curiosity, I hope that you enjoy the information offered. Rose Bay Public School was established in July 1891 with an enrolment of 16 pupils. Originally located at the junction of Military Road and Old South Head Road, Rose Bay. It moved in April 1907 to occupy the present Albemarle Avenue site, situated in a quiet residential area at the base of the South Head Peninsular between Sydney Harbour and Bondi Beach. The school is now rapidly growing, with a current enrolment of 469 children in 2009, incorporating a population which features diverse socioeconomic and cultural groups. The community of Rose Bay Public School works co-operatively to provide a happy, safe and secure environment in which all children, staff and parents are valued and respected as individuals. The community values the efforts of the school’s highly professional and committed teachers and the emphasis on high standards of purpose, achievement and self discipline. At Rose Bay we believe that every child is a learner, and we inspire and encourage them to develop, extend and express their own ideas, secure in the knowledge that these will be valued and listened to. With high and realistic expectations, all children are encouraged to achieve their full potential, both academically and as socially and morally responsible citizens. They are taught to act with fairness, honesty, integrity, kindness and care towards each other in all situations. Education for the future is a high priority at Rose Bay. We are implementing a comprehensive range of programs to equip our children to move with confidence into their secondary education. The decision to send your child to a particular school is a very important one and we at Rose Bay believe that the opportunities offered here are of the highest quality.
